New Moon
For the first time in over a year of careful quarantine, I shared a hike today with my great friend Mike Carroll, aka Captain Chem. We did a shuttle hike from the Sunnyvale Mountain Staging Area to Saratoga Gap, leaving Mike's truck at Saratoga Gap, driving Spugly to Sunnyvale Mountain, and walking on the Skyline Ridge Trail back to the Gap. It was pretty hot up there, surprisingly to me, but mercifully, almost all of the trail was shaded by trees and huge sandstone outcrops. At the end of the hike, Mike was thoughtful enough to take me back to where Spugly was parked, as stipulated in detail by our official Palomino Trailways pre-hike agreement. I'm glad Mike was so readily cooperative. I really did not want to resort to an emergency Smartyphone call to my crack legal staff at Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe to straighten out the matter. Their mobile Goombah Squad is pretty rough around the edges.
So another six-mile segment of BART is complete. It was a fun, sort-of-roller-coaster walk on good tread, but man, getting there was a pain in the rear. Commuter traffic on Hwy 101 from San Juan Bautista to San Jose was a grind. I really don't know how all those people do it every day. STRESS!
Here are some pictures of NOT STRESS!
